In what can only be described as a nail-biting match against local rivals Lingdale Golf Club,  Lutterworth managed a 4 matches to 3 win to progress to the semi-finals of this East Midlands over 50’s club competition.  The match was decided by the last putt on the final green of the final match by which time everyone was out nervously watching the outcome, not least the two players.

Special mention goes to Roy Unwin of Lingdale for his hole-in-one on the 9th hole and to Kevin Courtney who won the 18th to force his match to extra holes and win on the 1st to maintain his unbeaten record this year.  Also to Club Captain (and late replacement) Hugh McClean who inflicted only the second defeat on his opponent in 3 years of this competition.

The team comprised Chris Wormleighton, Kevin Courtney, Hugh McClean, Mike Perry, Alex Scott, Phil Harbord and Allan Simmonds.
