Roger Jennings and Peggotty Cups
The Lincolnshire County Junior Golf competitive season started in earnest recently with a very large entry of both boys and girls contesting the very popular Roger Jennings and Peggotty Cups at its traditional home of Lincoln Golf Club. On a very pleasant spring day the spectators witnessed junior golf at its very best with players travelling from clubs in all parts of Lincolnshire for the occasion.
Taking first place in the girls competition and winning both the best gross and net prizes, and claiming the Roger Jennings and Peggotty Cups, was Lois Williamson of Boston Golf Club with a gross score of 79 – 6 for a nett score of 73. In second place in the nett competition was Erin Brown also of Boston Golf Club with 85 – 11 = 74.
In the boys competition the winner of the nett prize and the Roger Jennings Cup was first time entrant Harley Nicholls of Grimsby Golf Club (88 – 21 = 67). In second place was Thomas Johnson of Woodhall Spa (79 – 11 = 68), in third Tom Johnson of Holme Hall (82 – 13 = 69) and in fourth place, another first time entrant, Seb Hiom of Boston Golf Club (90 – 20 = 70).
The best gross score of the day (72) was recorded by Adam Barnard of Holme Hall Golf Club which secured him the Peggotty Cup. The runner up and just one shot adrift was Lincoln Golf Club’s Aaron Kay on 73. Taking third spot, another shot behind was Kenwick Park Golf Club’s Sam Done and in fourth place was Owen Musgrave of Forest Pines Golf Club on 76.
The nearest the pin prize was won by Lewis Andrew from Kenwick Park Golf Club and Alex Wright of Belton Park won the longest drive prize.

The next competitive outing for the junior golfers of the county is the boys’ and girls’ championships which is being played on the Bracken course at Woodhall Spa Golf Club. Entries should be made as soon as possible.
