The Lincolnshire Union of Golf Clubs boys have recently been through a very busy week.

The Under 18’s played a league match against Leicestershire and Rutland at South Kyme but didn’t take full advantage of a home fixture and suffered a 8 ½ to 6 ½ defeat. Despite a good showing in the afternoon singles with a 6 to 4 win the real damage was done in the morning when the foursomes were lost 4 ½ to ½.

Later in the week the Under 16’s and Under 14’s travelled to Spalding for their friendly match against their age group counterparts, also, from Leicestershire and Rutland and sadly the outcome was very similar with a morning foursomes defeat, being a common thread, but this time by 4 to 2.

The afternoon singles showed a slight improvement but the overall result a 11 to 7 defeat was almost inevitable. Then on the following day juniors from right across the county met at Boston West to play individually for the Stamford and Molson Trophies.

Taking the prize for  the best gross was Luke Parkinson of Market Rasen Golf Club with score of 77 and the best net prize went to the quickly improving Thomas Cooper of Belton Park Golf Club with a score of 77 – 10 = 67.
