After 5 matches in the club house at Rotherham GC, Chesterfield we’re sharing the spoils with tied points 2 1/2 to 2 1/2. Not knowing standings in the 2 remaining matches competitors from both sides awaited the result. 6th match came in with a win for Chesterfields Rob Johnston winning his match 3+2, leaving anchor man Tim Roberts with his much needed point to secure the away win. Tim’s result didn’t help the Chesterfield cause as he was beaten 3+1 in a nip and tuck closely fought match. The result finally went down to the wire as Chesterfield’s John Wall went down the 19th hole with Ty Qaiyum 10 long minutes saw Rotherham progress victorious to the quarter final posting the match win 4-3. All matches were closely battled and played in brilliant spirit and sportsmanship. Congratulations to the team, green-staff and catering team at Thrybergh as the course and facilities were presented in excellent form. Good luck in the next round?
