The production line of talented young golfers is our benefit from the Taskers funding along with the hard work and the dedication of not only the players but their coaches parents and clubs. The players are a credit to the Union and to themselves and long may our association with Taskers and the Junior assistance continue to provide our quality junior golfers
Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs has always prided itself on our continuing production of quality young golfers and the current young men and girls are no exception. We have over 55% of the squad members of all age groups in the Yorkshire squads and development squads at all ages The Sheffield Union is able to liaise with the other organisations in the area to provide 4 major events at excellent courses in the area (any age group up to 18 but usually for the lower handicaps) and also 10 short course competitions for beginners and higher handicaps with a natural progression from one to the other.
We have various competitions throughout the season in all the varying formats of the sport. We have Matchplay comps open to all handicap groups and played on a knockout Basis over the season with the semi-finals and final being played at Lindrick alongside the men’s and girls’ finals. We have Strokeplay competitions for both club champions and a Mini Tour played on a zonal basis with the zone winners meeting in a year-end final and an individual final for the 8 best players over the season We also support our Clubs Junior teams to enter our 3 person team event as the winners go on to play in the Yorkshire event with a chance to go on to represent Yorkshire in the national final (feat achieved by Lees Hall in 2021)
