The funding will have a impact on the SUGC supports as it supports all junior competitions and runs many themselves featuring both boys and girls.

We run competitions for 6 – 11, 12 – 15 and under 18 with the better players going forward for selection for the Union team. The junior team won the Yorkshire Inter District league and also the 6 man team event. We were able to transport the players to the various venues by coach thereby generating an excellent team spirit.

How we plan to use the funding from the Taskers Trophy in Sheffield. The provision of transport , by coach , the on course refreshments the coaching relevant to their ability and uniforms in team colours and a general togetherness generated by the trust built up over many years together (some of our players have been with us for up to 10 years) Our record for producing Junior players is reflected in Alex Fitzpatrick (Matts brother and Sam Bairstow going onto the Full professional tour after very good amateur careers.

We have had many juniors represent the county, National and international level events. We have had juniors win the Brabazon and Carriss trophies in Ben Schmidt and Sam Berrisford and also the Justin Rose Masters all while being part of the SUGC/Yorkshire training programme. Some of our juniors are now finding the lure of College Scholarships in America the possible next step having seen the success of others eg Alex Fitzpatrick and Barclay Brown

The performance of our program is measured by our success at regional, county and national level. We had players in the Walker cup Yorkshire county team which won the County championship,Josh Berry played for England in various competitions around the world The success of our program is that our junior teams are now involved in inter club team competitions culminating in a final and the best 12 players over the whole year play off for the individual title.

We have a rolling time frame as we keep generating players at the bottom end playing in 10 stroke play competitions in age groups (both boys and girls) to the 4 major competitions played over championship courses to the junior union teams and then onto the Mens team.

The county has many of our junior players from under 14 to the development squad to the elite squad for coaching at many venues from the elite golf coaches ,we also have players at school doing golf coaching as part of the curriculum. The players go to various coaching classes over the winter programme and this is the commencement of the team selection process for the variuos County age group teams
