At the heart of Leicestershire & Rutland Ladies County Golf Association (L&RLCGA) lies a commitment to nurturing the next generation of golfers. The Taskers Trophy Inter-Club funding has been instrumental in supporting our mission to develop junior golf in our county. This blog post delves into the significance of this funding, the programs it supports, and the positive impact it has on young golfers.
The Lifeblood of Junior Golf Development
The Taskers Trophy Inter-Club funding is the lifeblood of our Development Fund for County Junior Girls. This competition offers marvellous opportunities for club members aged 50+ to participate in and enjoy competitive golf at various locations throughout the region. Beyond the joy of playing, participants recognise their role in supporting the growth of junior golf in our county.
Over the years, we have witnessed the growth of our next generations, providing excellent playing and coaching opportunities for youngsters of all ages and skill levels. The friendships formed are long-lasting, and our emphasis is always on creating a fun and safe environment where girls can develop both golf and life skills.
How the Funding is Utilized
The funding from Taskers Trophy Inter-Club is allocated to several key areas:
- Coaching Programs: We offer monthly coaching sessions from April to October, led by PGA Professional Amy Taylor. These sessions are divided into two 90-minute segments. The first session caters to grassroots and novice players with no handicaps, marking the start of their golfing journey. The second session is for progressing youngsters with handicaps, many of whom have advanced from the first session. The high take-up and excellent retention rates reflect the fun and safe learning environment we provide.
- Foxes Junior Pathway Tour: Now in its fourth year, this successful program is open to all girls and boys in the county. It offers competitive opportunities across five levels, depending on experience and age. Events include Flag50, Super50, Stepping Stones, 9 Hole, and 18 Hole competitions. Prizes are awarded in all categories, and an overall Order of Merit is maintained for the 18 Hole events. With around 90 players at each event, the tour is consistently oversubscribed, creating an atmosphere of fun and learning. Find out more here

The Impact of Taskers Trophy Inter-Club Funding
The Taskers Trophy Inter-Club funding has significantly benefited junior golf in our county. With your support, our numbers have grown, skill levels have improved, and our ability to field regional teams has strengthened. More girls have access to golf, receive encouragement and support, and enjoy the friendships, fun, and healthy activity that golf provides.
We cannot achieve this without your continued support and are immensely grateful for your generosity. The participation of club teams raises awareness and highlights the importance of junior golf in our county. It’s a win-win situation!
