At Staffordshire County Ladies Golf Association, we are committed to growing the game by investing in its future, our juniors. The continued support of Taskers Trophy funding plays a vital role in helping us deliver programmes that make golf more accessible, inclusive, and inspiring for young female players across the county.

For clubs, teams, and junior participants across Staffordshire, this funding represents a significant opportunity to grow and strengthen junior golf in our county. It allows us to enhance grassroots initiatives so that young girl players of all abilities have access to high quality coaching, competitions, and pathway programmes. With this support, we can ensure that new players, novice handicap golfers, and county level juniors all have opportunities to learn, develop, and thrive.

Why This Funding Matters for Junior Girls Golf

Girls will directly benefit from more opportunities to learn, compete, and enjoy golf in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. For our county teams, this support helps identify and nurture talent, giving promising girl juniors the chance to progress through structured pathways, participate in competitive fixtures, and gain the confidence and skills to succeed both on and off the course.

This funding makes a big difference to the numbers taking part. It allows us to provide opportunities without needing to fundraise or collect subs. Having to charge for coaching would be a backwards step and could discourage those trying the sport out. A huge thanks to all the clubs who play in the Taskers Trophy and support junior coaching in this way.

How We Plan to Use This Year’s Funding

Staffordshire clubs will be able to invest in junior specific resources such as coaching equipment, on course learning opportunities, and development events. This makes golf more accessible and engaging for local girls and strengthens the foundations of junior girl golf in Staffordshire. It will help clubs retain and grow their junior membership, increase participation, and support a sustainable future for the sport.

A new Junior Organiser has recently been appointed by SLCGA who will coordinate and lead the development of girls within the county. Over the next year and beyond, an updated programme for girls of all abilities, from the Elite Squad down to grassroots, will be implemented. These programmes will include:

  • Grassroots development and coaching
  • County pathway programmes and talent development
  • Junior events and competitions
  • Club support and engagement

An estimated 60 juniors will benefit from the projects supported by this funding.

What Success Looks Like

Taskers funding will support several key county development objectives, including:

  • Junior membership growth and retention
  • Coaching support
  • Junior handicapping and development
  • SafeGolf and Respect in Golf accreditation

We see this funding as an important investment in the future of Staffordshire girls golf, helping more young people enjoy the game, develop their skills, and remain engaged with golf for life. A worthwhile task.

How Previous Funding Has Helped

Taskers funding has been a very important part of junior golf in Staffordshire. Many girls start as youngsters without handicaps and the funding is essential to help pay for and provide:

  • Facilities for practice and coaching at driving ranges
  • Team kit, balls, tees, and markers
  • Green fees for matches
  • Opportunities for the girls to get together as a group

Through this, the girls learn new skills, extend their abilities, form new friendship groups, and participate in team events that allow them to support and encourage each other.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Staffordshire junior golf has many goals for 2026 which include:

  • Retaining current juniors and growing the section
  • Encouraging participation from a wider range of clubs
  • Completing all team matches
  • Supporting girls to enter county and national competitions

With Taskers Trophy funding, we are confident we can continue to build a strong, inclusive, and inspiring future for girls golf in Staffordshire.
