The Funding from Taskers is the lifeblood of our Development Fund for County Junior Girls. Each year, the Taskers Trophy competition provides marvellous opportunities for Club members aged 50 plus to play competitive golf at a variety of locations throughout the Region. What makes it even more special is that every participant also recognises that by taking part, they are directly supporting the continuing growth of Junior Golf in our County.
Over the years, we have seen the growth of our next generations and have been able to continue to provide great playing and coaching opportunities for youngsters, whatever their age or skill level. The friendship groups that are formed are long lasting and our emphasis is always to create a fun and safe environment where the girls can develop golf and life skills along their pathway to become whatever kind of golfer they aspire to be.
How We Use Taskers Trophy Funding
1. Coaching for Every Level
From April to October, we provide monthly sessions led by PGA Professional Holly Waterfield. All girls are welcome.
We run three one hour sessions every coaching day to cater for different ages and stages:
- Grass roots and novice players with no handicaps. For many, this is the very start of their golfing journey.
- Girls progressing in their golf, gaining handicaps and growing in confidence.
- Short game and specialist sessions for team players throughout the year.
Girls can join at any time of the year. The take up is always high and the retention rates are excellent. Coaching is free to all players, funded directly by Taskers.
2. The Foxes Junior Pathway Tour
This fabulously successful programme is open to all Girls and Boys in the County.
We provide competitive opportunities for all players through five competition levels, depending on experience and age:
- Flag50
- Super50
- Stepping Stones
- 9 Hole events
- 18 Hole events with Gross and Net Orders of Merit
We typically attract 90 to 100 players at every event and are oversubscribed as soon as entries open in November for the following year.
The atmosphere always follows our ethos of having fun and learning as you go. We are overjoyed to see young players move up the Pathway with a smile on their faces.
In 2025, we increased the number of events from 5 to 6 to accommodate demand. The Taskers funding is essential in enabling the Tour’s ongoing success.
How Many Young Golfers Benefit?
Each year, around 150 juniors benefit from our programmes.
This includes girls and boys who are:
- New Players
- Novice Handicap Players
- Recreational Club Players
- Low Handicap and County Players
- Players progressing to Regional and National level
What Success Looks Like
Measurable outcomes include:
- Growing the overall number of participants
- Increasing new participants
- Retaining girls within the pathway
- Improving players’ handicaps
- Strengthening our County Match teams
- Improving results in Inter County League Matches
In 2025, we were proud to win the Regional Handicap League.
Our Development Objectives
Taskers funding directly supports the following County goals:
- Grow the game of golf for girls aged 6 to 18
- Provide a safe and happy environment for all youngsters irrespective of age, skill, ability, social background or religious background
- Support the development of elite players progressing to Ladies County Golf
- Encourage girls to be the best they want to be
- Support County Clubs in developing their Junior Sections, including practical and financial support
In 2025 the Pathway Tour made a donation of £75 to each host club, specifically to support the club’s Junior Section.
The Impact of Previous Taskers Funding
Our numbers have grown over the years with your support. Skill levels have risen and our ability to populate Regional teams has improved considerably. More girls have had access to golf who otherwise would not have. More girls are receiving encouragement and support in their golfing journey. More girls are enjoying the friendships, fun and healthy activity that golf provides.
We cannot do this without your continuing support and we are hugely grateful for the funding and appreciative of your generosity.
We market the Taskers Competitions strongly throughout the County and are delighted to see the substantial take up it brings. The participation of club teams raises awareness and highlights the importance of Junior Golf in L&R. It is a WIN/WIN situation.
