Well fought on a fantastic well turned out course at Rotherham great company

Rotherham B 5 - 2 Oakmere Park A

Oakmere’s Team report

THE DAY, it was most enjoyable, light rain shower but nothing to right home about,  there needed to be no excuses regarding the course, as the PGA were behind us it was a race to get back to base.
Well, the day went not quite to the briefing we had in mess at the start, our Pilot got into difficulty over half the journey due to air turbulence, but as he got use to the sudden rising and dropping, he had to bale out at the last.
Our Flight Engineer kept it together during the whole flight a bit of wind and turbulence wasn’t going to both him, (beans not really right before you get squeezed into a tin tube), but as the Pilot bailed out over the last, Flight engineer steered it home. VC for you my dear boy.
Our navigator was enjoying his first trip out in the AVRO, guiding us through and over everything trees, sandy hollows you name he steered it round it all, he enjoyed it so much he went for an extra ride by himself at the end, but alas, bailed it at the end.
Our bomb aimer was having a wail of a time, getting in on the action, picking them off best he could over the journey, the poor boy ran out of bombs at the end, and took over fight engineers place to assist the pilot, with the landing.
Wireless Radio operator, such a stern gentleman, spent most of the flight tapping his fingers and feet with his headphones on shouting remarks at some one, but he lost his composure at the end.
Now we had a mad Scotsman as mid upper gunner, leading marksman for last 2 years never missed any thing, well surprisingly he missed just about everything today but that’s how these days go, some you win others you loose, sometimes you don’t return, but he landed safely using his umbrella as the parachute he’d forgotten, to live another day.
One final man to award a medal to our tail gunner, held it together throughout, anything coming near his rear got obliterated. It was due to his bravery we picked up for that last operation for his bravery he is awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal (CGM)
THREE CHEERS FOR OUR BRAVE LADS. HIP HIP HOORRRAH etc.
Or to put it another way ROTHERHAM “B” 5 – 2  Oakmere “A”     ALL the best from Oakmere
