After a 2 hour plus journey for 5 of the team, 2 arrived on Thursday had a game and stayed local. Ashby arrived to constant drizzle. The rain slowed the greens down much to the delight of the 2 players who played on Thursday.
The golf played by both teams was first class and there was never going to be much between the teams. The decision by Paul Vessey and Steve Fitzpatrick to travel down on Thursday and have a game looked inspired as both players won the first 2 legs against 2 of Alfreton strongest players. It was always going to be 4-3 to one of the teams but which one?
At 3-3 Kev Rawson, Alfreton, came up the 18th one down. He won the hole and then much to Alfreton delight won the first extra hole to see Alfreton go through.
Hard luck for Ashby Captain Ian Bonner who was unlucky to lose the extra hole . Well done Alfreton and unlucky Ashby who are a great team and after your first entry into the Taskers I hope to see your name in it again
