Taskers funding has been a very important part of junior county golf in Nottinghamshire for a number of years. It allows us to provide coaching for any girls under 18 interested in playing golf, regardless of age or handicap. Many of our girls start as youngsters without handicaps, and through monthly coaching opportunities, they are able to meet other girls, form friendships, learn new skills and participate in open events knowing they will not be alone.

Nottinghamshire junior golf is about providing a safe community of girls that can support and encourage each other. The monthly sessions are designed so that they have opportunities to chat to others, meet new people and extend their abilities.

We run two teams:

  • A scratch team that plays five matches within the Midland North Region, travelling to counties such as Shropshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, and Leicestershire & Rutland.
  • A handicap team that currently plays three matches as part of the Midland North League.

At the finals event, all counties come together to play the deciding league matches. We also provide competition for 9-hole, high handicap or non-handicapped players, ensuring everyone has a chance to participate.

2025 Season Highlights

At the end of the 2025 season, we regained the scratch championship trophy for the Midland North Region. We provided full teams for every match we played and had several players representing the county for the first time in our handicap team. Others made debuts in the ladies scratch and second teams.

We are proud to share that:

  • One of our juniors is playing for the England Golf Girls team.
  • Another is receiving regional coaching.
  • A former junior, now over 18, is playing for the England Golf Women’s team.

While these achievements are not solely down to county coaching, we believe the team ethics and experiences they gain in these early years help them to continue and push to achieve further.

How Taskers Funding Helps

We strive to ensure that training is provided free of charge, making funding essential. Taskers funding supplements support from England Golf Talent Funding and helps us:

  • Pay for facilities and coaching.
  • Provide enough bays on the driving range to coach and practice effectively.
  • Subsidise team kit, making it affordable or available to borrow.
  • Cover green fees for matches and our end-of-season Celebration of Golf and Captains Changeover event.

This celebration highlights the achievements of all players, with certificates and prizes for competitions won. Increasingly, we are having to pay green fees to stage this event, and funding helps ensure everyone who wishes can take part.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Our goals for next season include:

  • Retaining at least 35 junior members.
  • Completing all team matches.
  • Finishing in the top two of the scratch league.
  • Improving on 5th place in the handicap league.
  • Encouraging participation from a wider range of clubs.
  • Supporting girls to enter county and national competitions.

These aims are planned for the April to October 2026 competition season, with ongoing efforts to maintain our junior programme year-round.

A Heartfelt Thank You

We would like to thank all the clubs who play in the Taskers Trophy and support junior coaching in this way. It makes a big difference to the numbers taking part and allows us to provide opportunities without needing to fundraise or collect subs.

Quite simply, without this funding, we would be running at a loss. We are committed to encouraging everyone to take part, and having to charge for coaching would be a backwards step that could discourage those trying the sport out.

Thank you for helping us continue to build a strong, inclusive, and inspiring future for girls’ golf in Nottinghamshire.
